Are you out of work and have been for some time? Do you feel drained, maybe even gutted or uncapable of handling the situation? Relax. You’re perfectly normal. As we all know, being in between jobs can be frightfully dull, and boring, and completely… completely… manageable. Yes, that’s right! It all comes down to one single, yet crucial fact. Daily routines.
Rise and shine
Even if you’re a sleepyhead like myself, not to mention a night owl, you need to start challenging your morning routines. If you got a severe case of the Mondays and just can’t wait to crawl back under that comfy blanket for another hour or so, you need to straighten up. After all, you have a job to attend to.
A breath of fresh air
Get out for at least 30 minutes every day. I like to go for long walks in the forest to boost my energy. It always clears my mind and helps me unwind.
Our bodies are built to be on the move. A regular exercise regime will not only keep you fit, it will enhance your mood and bring a clearer focus to your days and the mission you’re on.
Let your hair down
It’s like the famous movie quote: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Even though Jack was as crazy as they come, there’s a truth to the matter. Being out of the work loop often means your social life is suffering. That’s why it’s even more important to spend time with your friends and invest in your favourite pastimes. If not now, when?
Don’t let the bedbugs bite
Nothing will drain you more than lack of sleep, but if you keep your energy going during the day you will have less trouble recharging the batteries overnight.
All in all, start treating your hunt for that dream job as a job in itself, because at the end of the day that’s what it is. But while other people’s jobs end at 5 pm, your search goes on. Before you even know it, it has become a 24/7 mission. That’s when you need to step aside and come up with a strategy that actually helps.
